Spring 2024 Newsletter

Hi Folks,

Well, it’s time I got my Spring newsletter out. Wow, Mother Nature sure threw us a curve this winter, even living in northern Michigan I cleaned out my driveway with my tractor only twice and even then, it didn’t really need it.

Very few of our favorite ice fishing lakes had safe ice so there was not much ice fishing this winter. Spring Steelhead runs were however very good this year and we were really surprised at the early run of “Kings” off of Frankfort.

Somewhat new for me and creating a lot of interest recently are the hybrid class of Brookies and Lakers, the “Splake”. We really ran into them last fall near Drummond Island. Being a hybrid, they can come in a wide variety of color patterns with no two typically alike. I’ve since carved several, they turn out great and don’t stay on the shelf long.

My shop is “Open for the Season” so come on by. I’ve been busy carving all winter and have a nice selection of various species for your viewing enjoyment. Please give me a heads-up call before you head my way because when you live between the Platte and Betsie Rivers, it’s hard to stay home.

Tight lines and Best Fishes to you all!

Thanks,

Dave
