Is it really real??!!
I've never cared for those glossy painted decoys. That's something I probably inherited from Grandpa and Uncle Mike! After I've got the decoy shape I apply soft acrylic paints then sand the wood grain to show back through. I've made over 40 fish species decoys - and every one of them is different! |

Depending on where it was caught, what time of year, what the water temperature was a fish can change colors completely.
If you don't believe me you should see a Brook Trout during spawning season! Although I know many of my decoys go straight to a display case, each one is balanced and weighted to be a real working lure. |
